Welcome to ilo

The ilo Early Learning Center is one of the premier preschools in the City of Parker. Driven by a passion for developing young minds and the whole child, ilo utilizes proven learning models and age appropriate curricula to launch your child's educational journey. Given that children are very impressionable as they start their educational journey, having a positive experience early on is key to their future academic success. "ilo" (pronounced "ee-low") means joy in Finnish and we strive to bring that positive and joyful experience balanced with age-appropriate learning to your child's educational journey.

Why ilo

At ilo Early Learning Center, we have adapted the Finnish schooling model to provide an age appropriate, comprehensive early childhood education that incorporates social, emotional, academic and physical development, while still adhering to Colorado Education standards. The Finnish school model, which has been in practice for 40 years, has been recognized by the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) as one of the best in the world.

In keeping with the name of the school, we strive to create an environment that instills the joys of learning to your children, giving them that positive experience that sets them up for success as they progress on their educational  journey.

The ilo approach is similar to Montessori in that the classroom has children of different ages, utilizes age appropriate self-guided hands-on learning, set in an environment that promotes self-discipline, personal responsibilities, and mutual respect. Additionally, we believe in learning through play, put a focus on team and group interactions, and endeavor to interleave nature into our lessons.

In the classroom, we live by the tenants of Conscious Discipline, inclusive of Composure, Encouragement, Assertiveness, Choices, Empathy, Positive Intent and Consequences.

New Year Changes

Starting the new year, we’re making a few exciting teaching updates!

  • Ms. Taylor will take the lead on art, handwriting, and fine motor skills.

  • Ms. Shelby will continue guiding our students in math.

  • Ms. Cindy will focus on literacy and STEM.

  • Ms. Isa will keep supporting both the kids and our amazing teaching team.

We’re also thrilled (and sad) to share that Ms. Amy has accepted a long-term subbing position at her children’s school. While we’ll miss her regular presence, she’ll still pop in to sub for ilo from time to time!

Here’s to a fantastic start to the new year!

UPK Enrollment is Now Open

For Families with kids turning 4 before October 1st, UPK applications are now open for families currently attending ilo who plan to return next fall. If matched within the enrollment deadlines, your child could qualify for up to 15 hours of state-funded preschool! Since our school day is five hours long, that’s three free days of preschool each week!

To get started, use the ilo-specific links below to access the UPK website, fill out your application, and request a spot at ilo. Keep in mind that UPK will only fund up to 15 hours per week, even if you’d like your child to attend 4 or 5 days.
