09

How does early childhood learning differ from day care?

Day care is typically offered to children ranging from <2-5 years old, with a range of independence, emotional, and expressive skills. Day care is great for providing your child a safe place to play and be around other children. Day care providers (with some exceptions) must pass certain state requirements, such as criminal background checks.

Preschools are designed to provide a transitional step to Kindergarten and teachers must be credentialed. Preschool children are expected to have a certain level of independence, such as being potty trained, so teachers and students can focus more on development. At ilo, we will provide that transitional step through structured social, emotional, academic development.
